THE HOLY SPIRIT

INTRODUCTION

Christians in today’s contemporary world have not accorded the Holy Spirit the right value. Members of today’s church have failed to seek the Spirit of the Lord, which is the Holy Spirit. This is what the Spirit of the Lord says while meditating on the broad topic “The Holy Spirit”.

The Holy Spirit is one of the trinity. He is a personality who has been existing ever before the creation of the world. In Genesis 1:23, the Bible says “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light.”

Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of God has started work right from the foundation of the world when the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the earth. However, this Holy Spirit brought light into the world and the world was no more without form or void. In fact, if there is no Holy Spirit, the world will not be in existence today; the world would have remained formless. But glory be to God for enabling the Holy Spirit to put everything into shape when the Spirit of God was hovering upon waters and light came upon the earth.

This same Holy Spirit, when Jesus left His glory in heaven and put on the form of a servant and came into this world, strengthened Him to die for mankind in order to take away the sins of the world.

“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” — Philippians 2:6-8.

In Matthew 1:18-22, the Bible recorded that the Savior came into the world through a virgin, in the land of Israel, who was highly favoured, over-shadowed by Holy Ghost, conceived through Holy Spirit and gave birth to Jesus, the Savior of the world.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,” – Matthew 1:18-22

Dear beloved, without Holy Spirit human being is empty. When John the Baptist came into the world, He was sent ahead by my heavenly Father, the Saviour and said something that was so difficult to believe according to Matthew 3:11: “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”
